The West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal in Los Angeles have been recognized with state and national awards by the American Council of Engineering Companies. Terri Mestas, Chief Development Officer at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), highlighted the project's significance: “In many ways, the West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal provides an early expression of what guests can expect across LAX as a part of our multi-million-dollar Capital Improvement Program."

Opened to the public in May 2021, the West Gates is a five-level facility covering approximately 750,000 square feet and featuring 15 gates for international and domestic flights. The concourse has achieved LEED Gold certification and incorporates modern technology such as biometric boarding gates and an advanced baggage handling system.

The project aimed to generate economic opportunities for local communities, with 30 percent of hires coming from surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally, 21 percent of the total contract value was performed by Small Business Enterprises.

Edwin Tamang, Vice President at Kimley-Horn, expressed his personal connection to the project: "The experience of LAX's West Gates at TBIT will always hold a special place in my memory." He acknowledged the collaborative efforts involved in bringing this significant infrastructure to life.

LAX is also working on expanding its facilities further with the Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) South project. This addition will introduce approximately 150,000 square feet and eight more gates for narrowbody aircraft by 2025.
