“Memorial Day weekend always marks the start of the summer travel season at LAX," stated Doug Webster, Interim Chief Operations and Maintenance Officer at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). Webster noted the increased demand for travel to and from Los Angeles due to school breaks and relaxed workdays. "Our airport staff and airline partners are aware of the projected wave of travelers to the region, and are ready and well-equipped to provide our guests with the best possible experience at LAX.”

LAX anticipates a rise in passenger and vehicle traffic this month and throughout summer. The airport offers several tips for travelers to reduce stress, enhance their journey, and ensure a smooth start to their summer travels.

Travelers meeting someone at LAX should check flight status and arrival terminal details beforehand. Real-time traffic and parking information is available via @FlyLAXstats on X (formerly Twitter).

Curbside pickup and drop-off are allowed on both Upper/Departures and Lower/Arrivals levels. Parking structures offer 15 minutes of free parking.

Two cell phone waiting lots allow drivers to wait until passengers are ready for pickup, helping manage traffic around the Central Terminal Area (CTA). These lots are located at 96th Street & Alverstone Avenue, as well as 96th Street & Vicksburg Avenue.

Information about transit, taxi, rideshare, and other ground transportation options is accessible online.

For smoother navigation through TSA checkpoints, travelers can enroll in TSA Preè or other trusted-traveler programs like U.S. Customs & Border Protection's Global Entry.

Ticketed passengers have access to all LAX terminals post-security. Travelers can enjoy concession promotions by ordering through LAXOrderNow with a discount available until May 29 using promo code MDW2024.

Business-leisure travelers can utilize modernized terminal facilities offering workspaces with power outlets and free Wi-Fi.

Unique amenities such as Gameway arcades in Terminals 3 and 6 provide entertainment options for passengers. The Art Program displays over 30 installations across terminals showcasing local artists' talents. Therapy dogs from the PUPS Program roam departure areas providing comfort to passengers awaiting flights.

Musical guests can play Kawai pianos located in Terminal B near gate 201A and Terminal 7 beyond TSA checkpoints.

Travelers can access tools such as flight information, parking reservations, dining options, lost-and-found services, virtual assistance via AskLAX, an LAX helpline, and a construction hotline at (310) 649-LAWA (5292).
