Etihad Airways resumed its Airbus A380 flights between Abu Dhabi and New York's JFK Airport in April 2024. This route is now the fifth-longest quadjet service globally, excluding Emirates-operated flights, and ranks 17th when including Emirates. The longest A380 flight not operated by Emirates is Qantas' Sydney-Singapore-London Heathrow route. For non-stop routes, Qantas' Melbourne-Los Angeles flight takes the top spot.

Emirates remains a dominant force in discussions about the Airbus A380 due to its large fleet and extensive network of routes. However, other airlines such as All Nippon, Asiana, British Airways, Etihad, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines also operate significant A380 services.

Qantas appears three times on the list of longest non-Emirates A380 routes from July to December 2024. Its Kangaroo service is noted as the longest globally when combining one-stop and non-stop flights. If only non-stops are considered, Qantas would feature three times with its Singapore-London leg included.

The distances for these routes are calculated based on the Great Circle method but may vary in actual operations. The data is current as of July 11 but could change by year's end.

Etihad's return to using the A380 on its Abu Dhabi-JFK route marks a significant development. The airline had previously used this aircraft type between November 2015 and March 2020 before pausing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now operating six times weekly with the A380 until October's end (and daily thereafter), Etihad complements this service with a Boeing 787-9 on Tuesdays.

British Airways reintroduced its A380s to Singapore on March 31, 2024. The table of long-haul routes highlights that all top ten longest routes had already seen A380 operations last year.

Etihad's use of the double-decker jetliner for EY1 departing at 02:40 from UAE and arriving at JFK at 09:05 showcases their commitment to maintaining substantial North American connections despite high capacity demands.
