On Friday, Allegiant Air commenced its inaugural flight from Cincinnati to Melbourne, Florida. This new route provides passengers with access to various destinations in Florida. The service, which started on November 15th, operates nonstop between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB). Announced in July, the flights will continue until February 10th next year, with potential extensions based on demand.

The first flight departed CVG at 3:55 PM EST and arrived at MLB at 6:06 PM EST after traveling 838 miles. An Airbus A320-200 aircraft was used for this flight. The aircraft has a full economy configuration with 186 seats.

Flights are scheduled on Fridays and Mondays, allowing passengers easy access to Florida's eastern coast destinations such as Melbourne Beach and Cocoa Beach.

Allegiant Air has been operating at CVG since February 2014 and currently serves 22 destinations from the airport. It faces competition from other ultra-low-cost carriers like Frontier Airlines but maintains a strong presence.

Founded in January 1997, Allegiant is a major ultra-low-cost carrier in the US. After financial challenges during COVID-19, it returned to profitability in 2023 with a net income of $117.60 million. Allegiant follows a low-cost model similar to Southwest Airlines and plans to replace its Airbus A320s with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft due to recent orders.
