Breeze Airways has entered into a lease agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital for three Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The first two of these aircraft are expected to be delivered in December 2024, with the final one arriving in early 2025.

Breeze Airways, which began operations in May 2021, currently operates a fleet of 43 aircraft serving over 60 destinations across the United States. David Neeleman, Founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, stated that their expanding Airbus A220-300 fleet is instrumental in serving more guests and reaching new communities. "SMBC Aviation Capital is a great partner as we look for more ways to support our continued growth," Neeleman added.

Conor Stafford, Head of Airline Marketing at SMBC Aviation Capital, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "We are delighted to partner with Breeze Airways and welcome the airline as a new customer to SMBC Aviation Capital. We are excited to support the airline in growing their fleet of Airbus A220s as it expands its network across the US."

SMBC Aviation Capital is among the largest aircraft leasing companies globally and manages nearly 1,000 aircraft for over 150 airline customers worldwide. The company focuses on modern, fuel-efficient models like the Airbus A220, A321neo, and A350.

Breeze Airways' current fleet includes 30 Airbus A220-300s, ten Embraer E190s, and three Embraer E195s. The average age of its fleet is approximately 11.6 years; however, its Airbus A220-300s are notably younger at just 1.7 years old.

Each Airbus A220-300 operated by Breeze can accommodate up to 137 passengers in a two-class configuration: 12 seats in first class and 125 in economy class (including extra legroom seats). The airline uses its mixed fleet to serve various routes that include smaller airports such as Westchester County Airport (HPN) and Norfolk International Airport (ORF).
