Bill Carroll, S.V.P. – Controller | Delta Air Lines

For Eric Adu, a flight attendant based at JFK Airport, working with Delta Air Lines has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Adu's journey with Delta began 16 years ago and is rooted in an early fascination that started in his hometown of Accra, Ghana.

The interest was sparked when his sister brought home a flyer from an event in Accra that stated, "Delta is my airline." Although unfamiliar with the company at the time, Adu felt an immediate connection to Delta. He cherished the flyer, keeping it close as he moved through school.

"My classmates would ask me what it was about and why I kept it so dear," Adu remembered. "I didn’t have an answer, but I told them I loved the name and the logo."

After completing high school, Adu relocated to the United States. He worked various jobs before successfully finishing Delta's demanding flight attendant training program in 2008.

"I was thrilled, and within six weeks, I learned so much about the airline,” said Adu. His commitment to Delta is strong as he hopes to continue working there until retirement. “Delta has been incredibly good to me. It’s the best company I’ve worked for since moving to America."

Adu expresses particular fondness for serving on flights between JFK and Accra. This route allows him not only regular visits with family but also opportunities to connect with fellow Ghanaians.

“I love working the JFK-Accra route because I get to help my people,” Adu said. “When I see older passengers with language barriers, speaking in the local language helps them feel comfortable and welcome. Some even share their concerns with me, and I always go the extra mile to help them."
