In a ceremony held at the Emirates Group Headquarters, employees were recognized for their outstanding contributions through the Najm Chairman’s Awards 2024. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, led the event.

His Highness praised the winners: “The dedication, spirit of collaboration, perseverance and ingenuity of team members being honoured today shows the Emirates Group at its best. Whether it's skillfully undertaking the largest known fleet retrofit project, expanding the digital retailing experience, achieving fuel savings across our flight operations, bringing sustainability to the forefront of our dnata Travel business, making the travel experience more inclusive, and showing courage in the face of danger.”

Raphael was among those honored for his exemplary commitment during an urgent situation. His story is one of six highlighted in this year's awards. The awards acknowledge efforts in categories such as customer experience improvements, innovation, impactful initiatives contributing to ESG efforts, and fostering a safety-first culture.

One significant achievement recognized was 'Project Phoenix,' a fleet retrofit project that began in August 2022. Teams dedicated over 30,000 manhours to upgrade interiors on Emirates A380s and Boeing 777s. This effort is expected to extend fleet lifespan by over a decade.

Emirates’ Revenue Optimisation team introduced a New Distribution Capability Gateway to modernize retail capabilities. This system supports trade partners globally and enhances product differentiation.

The Flight Operations team collaborated with Dubai Air Navigation Services to streamline arrival procedures at DXB airport. These changes reduced flight planning distances and set a precedent for other airports worldwide.

Lara Seymour from dnata Travel was acknowledged for her sustainability initiatives which include optimizing bus routes and implementing responsible travel policies.

Efforts were also made to improve travel experiences for People of Determination at Terminal 3 through sunflower lanyards and travel rehearsals for neurodivergent passengers.

Overall, 22 individuals and teams received recognition this year. The Najm programme celebrates employee achievements across various tiers with Chairman’s Awards being the highest level attainable.
