The Lufthansa Group has once again received high marks in significant ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) ratings. This year, the group maintained its "AA" rating from MSCI for the third consecutive year, indicating a strong commitment to sustainability. The rating places Lufthansa well above the industry average among 21 airlines analyzed by MSCI ESG Research. The group has been part of the MSCI Global Sustainability Index since 2015.

In addition to this, the ISS ESG Corporate Rating for 2024 confirmed Lufthansa's "Prime Status" with a "C+" rating. This recognition is shared with only one other airline out of 49 rated and denotes leadership within the industry based on over 300 specific ESG criteria.

Lufthansa also excelled in corporate governance according to the DVFA Scorecard for Corporate Governance 2024. The company received a "very good" rating with an overall score of 85.80 percent, placing it first among MDAX companies evaluated by the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management.

Earlier in the year, Lufthansa was awarded an "A-" rating by CDP for its CO2 reduction strategy, marking the second consecutive year it achieved this top climate ranking. The CDP climate ranking is widely regarded as a benchmark for environmental reporting standards globally.

Lufthansa's experts continue to analyze these ratings to enhance performance further. The group's comprehensive ESG reporting aligns with both national and international standards and includes voluntary disclosures under frameworks like TCFD and SASB.

The Lufthansa Group remains committed to ambitious sustainability goals, aiming to halve net CO₂ emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 levels through reduction and compensation measures. By 2050, they aim for a neutral CO₂ balance using similar strategies. Key initiatives include fleet modernization, optimizing flight operations, utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and providing sustainable travel options for customers.
