Jetstar Asia has expanded its network by launching flights from Singapore to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The inaugural flight took off from Singapore Changi Airport and landed at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport on Thursday morning. This new route makes Jetstar the only low-cost carrier operating between these two cities.

The first flight, 3K333, utilized an Airbus A320-200 aircraft and completed the journey in approximately three hours and 29 minutes. The return flight, 3K334, departed Colombo later that day. Jetstar Asia plans to operate this route five times a week with options for evening or morning departures.

According to Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone, "We're excited our flights and low fares will make Sri Lanka more accessible than ever before, helping to boost tourism while supporting local businesses and providing travelers from Sri Lanka and across Southeast Asia with access to more affordable options."

The airline's decision aligns with expectations of increased tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka, aiming for three million visitors by the end of 2025. This service also offers seamless connections within the Jetstar Group's network, benefiting travelers heading to Australia or other regional destinations.

In addition to the Colombo route, Jetstar Asia resumed flights between Singapore and Medan earlier this month after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Medan is now one of four Indonesian destinations served by Jetstar Asia.
