Frontier Airlines has resumed operations at Hollywood Burbank Airport, launching nonstop flights to three major western US destinations. The service began on November 21, 2024, with routes to San Francisco International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Flights to Denver International Airport commenced the following day.

The airline's return was announced earlier this year. Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the relaunch: "We are thrilled to be back at Hollywood Burbank Airport, offering consumers in the greater Los Angeles area ultra-low-cost travel options to San Francisco, Phoenix, and Denver just in time for holiday travel."

Frontier Airlines will operate these routes using its expanding fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft. Currently, the airline operates eight Airbus A320s, 82 A320neos, 21 A321s, and 45 A321neos. An additional 27 A320neos and 163 A321neos are on order.

These new services place Frontier Airlines in direct competition with other carriers on popular routes from Hollywood Burbank Airport. Alaska Airlines and United Airlines already serve the San Francisco route; American Airlines and Southwest Airlines fly to Phoenix; while Southwest Airlines and United Airlines cover the Denver route.

Phoenix emerged as a top destination last year from Hollywood Burbank Airport with over 318,000 passengers. San Francisco was fifth-busiest with 233,000 passengers; Denver ranked eighth with around 203,000 travelers.

To attract customers in these competitive markets, Frontier is offering promotional fares starting at $29 one-way for bookings made before December 8 for travel before December 18.

Last year saw Hollywood Burbank Airport handling over six million passengers. Previously in July 2021, Frontier had operated flights from this airport to Denver and Phoenix as well as Las Vegas.
