Edi Wolfensberger Chief Operating Officer | Eurowings

Eurowings is set to expand its operations at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with an increased offering of direct flights for the summer of 2025. The airline will provide travelers with access to 42 destinations, focusing on southern European vacation spots. New routes will include Bilbao, Corfu, Faro, Newcastle, and Jerez de la Frontera.

In addition to these new destinations, Eurowings plans to increase flight frequencies to existing locations such as Malaga, Heraklion, Rhodes, Graz, Nice, Kos, Split, Yerevan and Erbil. Mallorca remains a top destination with up to 21 weekly flights from BER.

Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings commented on the expansion: “Berlin and Eurowings are a good match: we are delighted that we can not only continue our growth story at BER but even accelerate it. Following the very successful expansion of our connections to the Gulf region, we are also strengthening our presence in the capital in summer 2025 and, with over 200 weekly flights, are offering our broadest European service to date. Our commitment is a clear commitment to Berlin as an aviation location.”

Aletta von Massenbach from Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH expressed satisfaction with this development: “We are very pleased about Eurowings commitment at BER. The airline will offer travelers from the capital region a variety of new and attractive travel options in Europe and beyond in the upcoming summer flight schedule. At the same time, the expanded offer will improve the region's accessibility for international guests and thus strengthen BER as an airport location.”

Burkhard Kieker of visitBerlin acknowledged Eurowings' role in boosting tourism: “Eurowings is a great and reliable partner for Berlin's Visitor Economy. The airline, the airport and visitBerlin are working together to increase international flight connections to the German capital - with success.”

Despite this growth in European routes, Eurowings plans to reduce domestic flights by about ten percent due to rising government charges making them less economically viable. Nonetheless, connections between Berlin/Brandenburg and major cities like Düsseldorf remain strong.
