Emirates is set to resume its Airbus A380 flights to Prague on December 1, marking the return of the superjumbo to the Czech capital after a hiatus since March 2020. This move comes as Emirates prepares for competition with Etihad Airways, which plans to begin Abu Dhabi-Prague flights in 2025 using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The resumption will see Emirates operating its two-class, 615-seat configuration A380 on this route for the first time. This configuration includes 557 economy seats, more than any other layout in their fleet. The increased capacity represents a significant daily seat increase of 71% compared to the current Boeing 777-300ER service.

Since commencing operations in July 2010 with an A330-200 aircraft, Emirates has used various aircraft types on the Dubai-Prague route, including the Boeing 777 series. After an initial one-off A380 flight in July 2015 and regular services between May 2016 and March 2020, operations reverted to the Boeing model due to pandemic-related disruptions.

Historically, Prague-Dubai has been a popular route, with around 136,000 roundtrip passengers recorded up until July 2024. Of these travelers, about 63% flew with either Emirates or flydubai. Additionally, approximately 180,000 Emirates passengers connected through Dubai to other destinations such as Vietnam and India.

Flydubai continues its daily service between Prague and Dubai using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. Smartwings also serves this route daily from Prague.
