United Airlines is considering reintroducing its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) next spring. The airline plans to deploy these widebody jets on transatlantic routes to Frankfurt, Dubai, and Rome.

The Boeing 777-300ER, United's largest aircraft, is configured to accommodate 350 passengers with a focus on premium seating. The plane includes 60 seats in the Polaris business class cabin, 24 in Premium Plus, 62 in Economy Plus, and 204 in standard economy. This aircraft last operated from Newark in October 2023.

According to Ishrion Aviation, an independent route analyst, United intends to resume flights with the Boeing 777-300ER at EWR. Currently, United operates 22 of these aircraft mainly from San Francisco (SFO), serving destinations like Shanghai and Beijing. Some also operate out of Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

The proposed schedule suggests that flights to Frankfurt will commence on March 29th, 2025. This destination is already served by United’s Boeing 777-300ER from San Francisco and Dulles. However, as of now, these flights have not been entered into airline scheduling systems.

Additionally, United plans a new route to Dubai International Airport (DBX) starting March 29th using the larger Boeing model. This service was initially launched with a smaller Boeing 777-200ER in March 2023.

Finally, a route connecting Newark to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is set to begin on May 22nd. Presently, this connection is served daily with a Boeing 767-400.

It remains unclear if the routes will be supported by newly acquired aircraft or if existing routes will be adjusted to allocate the necessary planes. There are speculations about potential acquisitions from Japan Airlines as they replace their fleet with Airbus A350s.
