London Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in the UK and Europe, is preparing for a busy December. According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, 39,585 flights will serve the hub next month. These flights will offer a total of 8,687,147 seats and 22,108,590,616 available seat miles (ASMs) to accommodate increased Christmas traffic.

Among these flights, only 709 services will cover distances over 6,000 miles. This represents just 1.8% of Heathrow's operations but contributes significantly with higher average seats and ASMs per flight.

British Airways is prominent among airlines operating long-haul routes from Heathrow. Its longest route in December will be to Santiago de Chile (SCL), covering 7,227 miles using a Boeing 787-9. Additionally, British Airways will operate two daily trips to Singapore Changi (SIN), one with an Airbus A380 and another continuing to Sydney with a Boeing 777-300ER.

Singapore Airlines competes on the London-Singapore route using its Airbus A380s for two daily rotations. The airline supplements this capacity with additional flights operated by the Boeing 777-300ER.

Malaysia Airlines operates a non-stop route from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) using A350-900 aircraft configured with business suites and economy seating.

Vietnam Airlines plans to operate multiple flights between Heathrow and Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners configured for business class and economy seating.

China Airlines will serve the London-Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) corridor using Airbus A350-900s configured for various seating classes.
