Kazakhstan's Air Astana has announced a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, effective November 26, 2024. This partnership aims to enhance travel options and convenience for passengers by offering single bookings, simplified check-in processes, and seamless baggage transfer between the two airlines. It marks Air Astana's eighth such agreement globally.

Zhanna Shayakhmetova, Air Astana Vice President of Marketing and Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. She stated, "This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing passengers with exceptional and comfortable travel options whilst maintaining the highest standards of service and safety. We look forward to welcoming passengers onboard following this partnership."

Through this agreement, Air Astana passengers will gain access to Etihad flights connecting to destinations like Mumbai, Riyadh, Dammam, Bahrain, Cairo, Doha, Kuwait City, and Muscat. These connections will be facilitated through Abu Dhabi using Air Astana’s nonstop flights from Astana and starting December 5, 2024, also from Almaty.

In addition to this announcement from Air Astana, Etihad Airways recently revealed plans for ten new routes in the US, Europe, and Asia as part of its expansion strategy. These routes include destinations such as Algiers, Atlanta, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Hong Kong among others. Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves emphasized the significance of these developments: "This moment is not just about expanding our network; it's about sharing Abu Dhabi with the world."

Air Astana continues to grow its presence in the Middle East with new flights initiated from Atyrau to Dubai on October 26 and upcoming services from Almaty and Astana to Abu Dhabi in December.

The Central Asian airline group operates a fleet of 57 aircraft under both its full-service brand Air Astana and low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan. The group serves various domestic and international routes across regions including Central Asia and the Middle East.
