The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is planning to renumber all gates at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in the coming months. This initiative aims to eliminate confusion among travelers caused by duplicate gate numbers across different terminals.
Jessica Forse, the chief executive overseeing JFK's redevelopment program, mentioned that the agency is currently evaluating options for renumbering the gates. "Is it Gate 22 in Terminal 1, Terminal 5 or Terminal 8?" she posed as a question highlighting the current issue faced by travelers.
Currently, several terminals at JFK share gate numbers. For example, Terminals 5 and 8 both use a two-digit numbering system with gates numbered from 1 to 30. This overlap can confuse passengers about their departure terminal.
