Emirates is actively seeking to expand its team of pilots by hosting recruitment events in three major Australian cities next week. The airline already employs around 200 Australian pilots and aims to increase this number due to growing demand for air travel. The recruitment drive will take place in Perth from December 2-3, Sydney from December 5-6, and Brisbane from December 8-9.

The airline has introduced significant changes to its pilot recruitment process, offering higher salaries, new roles, and revised eligibility criteria. These changes are part of Emirates' strategy to attract experienced commercial pilots for its Airbus and Boeing widebody aircraft.

Four specific roles are open for application: Direct Entry Captains, Accelerated Command Program participants, First Officers Type Rated, and First Officers Non-Type Rated. Barry Brown, Emirates' Divisional Vice President, highlighted the benefits of joining the airline: "Emirates' pilots fly one of the world's youngest and most modern all widebody fleet to over 148 destinations across the globe. They will have the opportunity to undergo robust in-house training at Emirates' cutting-edge training facility and will also be based in the vibrant city of Dubai."

As part of its growth strategy, Emirates is set to receive ten Airbus A350s this year out of an order of 65. Additionally, it has ordered 205 Boeing 777Xs with deliveries expected to start in 2025. This expansion ensures that Emirates maintains a young and modern fleet.

Candidates selected for these roles will undergo comprehensive training at Emirates' advanced pilot training facility in Dubai. This center features ten simulators with plans underway for a new facility housing six full-flight simulators specifically for A350 and 777X aircraft.

Direct Entry Captains must have at least 7,000 flying hours on multi-crew, multi-engine commercial aircraft. The Accelerated Command Program targets experienced narrowbody Captains looking to advance their careers with a global airline brand. First Officers Non-Type Rated candidates can expect training on Boeing widebody aircraft including future operations on the 777X. For First Officer Type Rated positions, applicants need multi-engine experience along with a valid ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License.
