Boeing is facing challenges in the production of its F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets, as demand for these aircraft increases. The F-15EX, introduced in 2021, is a fourth-generation jet known for its air superiority and survivability. Boeing's vice president for fighters, Mark Sears, stated that "it will take time — we’re rebuilding a workforce that needs the experience."

The F-15EX is priced at $90 million, which is approximately $7.5 million more than the F-35A. While the F-35 is designed for anti-access zones and future upgrades, the F-15EX is expected to perform homeland defense missions with a larger weapons carriage capacity.

The advanced variant of the F-15EX features powerful General Electric turbofans with afterburners and various state-of-the-art systems such as BAE's AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS). It boasts a top speed of Mach 2.5 and has been optimized for different combat roles.

Countries like Poland, Israel, Egypt, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have shown interest or placed orders for the aircraft. Notably, South Korea plans to upgrade its existing fleet with an estimated cost of $6.2 billion.

In August 2024, the US approved a sale of up to 50 new F-15IA to Israel along with upgrades to existing aircraft for $18 billion in total. However, delivery may not begin until 2031 due to internal delays.

Production challenges persist as Boeing works on increasing output from one aircraft per month to about 1.5 while adding new mechanics who are still gaining proficiency.

"The advanced F-15QA not only offers game-changing capabilities but is also built using advanced manufacturing processes which make the jet more efficient to manufacture," said Prat Kumar, Boeing's former vice president and F-15 program manager.
