A special edition candy cane-flavored lolly will be available to Air New Zealand passengers this December. The airline has introduced the red and white striped confectionery as part of its holiday offerings, alongside its classic red and green lollies.

Kylie McGillivray-Brown, Air New Zealand's General Manager of Customer Experience, expressed enthusiasm for the festive addition. "December is an exciting time in the air. We're connecting millions of customers with friends and whānau for the holiday season and there's always a buzz onboard. We wanted to celebrate that festive feeling with a sweet holiday surprise for our customers," she said.

McGillivray-Brown noted that this is only the second time a limited-edition flavor has been released by the airline. "We know the Air New Zealand lolly is a much-loved treat onboard so it was time to bring a touch of Christmas magic to the popular onboard tradition. The new flavour tastes just like a Christmas candy cane, bringing some Christmas magic to fliers."

The candy cane lolly will be available from December 1 until supplies run out. "It's one way we're saying 'Meri Kirihimete' to our passengers as they travel around the globe this Christmas season," added McGillivray-Brown.

In addition to these sweets, domestic flights will feature other festive treats such as pretzel and candy cane chocolate bark, exclusive wines during Koru Hour, and various festive moments throughout December.

The traditional Air New Zealand lollies come in five flavors: strawberry, peppermint, lime, lemon, and orange. These candies are not only tasty but also help relieve ear pressure during flights by activating muscles that open eustachian tubes.

Air New Zealand first introduced a special edition lolly in 2015 with an 'All Black' blackcurrant flavor which occasionally reappears on flights as a surprise treat for passengers.
