Thai AirAsia X has launched its inaugural flight between Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. This new route aims to improve connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region, providing a cost-effective travel option for passengers between Thailand and Australia.

The first flight on this route, numbered XJ382, departed at 17:34, slightly behind its scheduled time of 17:15. The Airbus A330-300 aircraft completed the journey in eight hours and 58 minutes, arriving in Sydney at 06:32, ahead of its planned arrival time. The return flight, XJ383, also maintained punctuality with a departure at 08:52 and landing nine hours and 14 minutes later.

Thai AirAsia X CEO Tassapon Bijleveld commented on the new service: "Guests from Australia will also find the flight schedules between Sydney and Bangkok very favorable, and they can choose from six flights per week. As a show of appreciation to our valued guests, we are also introducing a new meal set exclusively for our Premium Flatbed guests."

The airline plans to operate six weekly flights on this route. Flights from Bangkok to Sydney will occur every day except Tuesday, while return flights will be available Monday through Saturday. Additional services include flights XJ388 and XJ389 on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Bijleveld highlighted the advantages of operating from Don Mueang Airport: "Operating from Don Mueang greatly enhances connectivity with the AirAsia Group's extensive network, particularly to destinations in India, where there is a strong and growing demand for travel to Australia. Our Fly-Thru service also provides a hassle-free experience."

Currently, Thai AirAsia X is the sole operator on this route from Don Mueang but faces competition from Qantas and Thai Airways at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
