Hawaiian Airlines has relocated its operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Harvey Milk Terminal 1. This move aligns with the airline's efforts to optimize operations following its acquisition by Alaska Airlines nearly three months ago. The relocation involves sharing a check-in counter with Alaska in a "co-location" setup.

"Starting today, Hawaiian Airlines will move its check-in counter and airport operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from the International Terminal to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 in a co-location with Alaska Airlines," the airline stated.

Alaska had previously consolidated its operations at Terminal 1 after completing a two-year relocation project from Terminal 2. The terminal features automated bag drops, which Alaska describes as an "innovative and seamless self-service technology."

Harvey Milk Terminal 1 also houses the new Club SFO Lounge, part of The Club’s global network of airport lounges. At this terminal, Alaska is the largest domestic carrier, surpassing American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines.

Despite overlapping routes between Hawaiian's hubs at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and Kahului Airport with Alaska's flights, no operational changes have been made yet. However, Hawaiian plans to cease flights between Maui and San Diego next summer while adding another daily flight between Honolulu and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

"This move is the first of six upcoming relocations at North America airports to bring Hawaiian and Alaska together and provide their guests a more seamless travel experience," said the carrier.

Future co-locations are planned for Sacramento International Airport, Ontario International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, and Los Angeles International Airport. Both airlines will continue using their own systems until a unified passenger service system is adopted.
