Embraer, a leading Brazilian aerospace company, has entered into an agreement with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) to explore new capabilities for its C-390 Millennium aircraft. The focus of this collaboration is to enhance the aircraft's role in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, particularly maritime patrol.

The C-390 Millennium is already versatile, serving in roles such as transport and aerial refueling. This new agreement aims to expand its ISR capabilities. Lieutenant-Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, Commander of the Brazilian Air Force, stated that "the studies to adapt the C-390 Millennium aircraft to ISR missions have evolved in a structured way," highlighting the potential for meeting both current and future needs of the FAB.

Embraer regards this development as a significant milestone in its ongoing relationship with the Brazilian Air Force. According to Monch Publishing Group, "the aircraft is already considered by its end users as the most advanced in its category."

The C-390 Millennium has been operational since 2019 and holds export orders from countries including Hungary, Portugal, Sweden, South Korea, Austria, Czech Republic, and Netherlands. It boasts a maximum payload capacity of 57,000 lbs and maintains a mission capability rate exceeding 93%.
