Perth Airport has unveiled its ambitious $5 billion expansion plan, aimed at transforming the aviation landscape in Western Australia. The investment will consolidate all flight services into the Airport Central precinct and introduce a new parallel runway, terminal facilities, multi-storey carparks, upgraded Terminal 2, and the airport's first hotel.

CEO Jason Waters described the project as unprecedented for Perth. "We will be completely changing the face of Perth Airport over the next decade," he stated. The aim is to provide a world-class experience for travelers while supporting airline partners' growth.

Waters emphasized the importance of creating "one airport" for all flights to simplify passenger experiences and enhance regional tourism by easing connections between international, interstate, and regional flights. He noted that last year saw a record 16 million passengers, with expectations to reach 20 million annually within ten years.

The construction will occur in an active airport environment, posing challenges. However, Waters assured efforts to minimize disruptions for passengers and airlines. New terminal facilities are designed to meet diverse traveler needs, from smooth check-ins to varied dining options.

Sustainability is also a focus, with plans to reduce water and energy use and waste generation. Construction has begun on a multi-storey carpark and upgrades at Terminal 2. A partnership with Accor will bring Pullman Hotels & Resorts to the airport estate.

Design discussions are ongoing for expanded terminals, with runway construction set to start soon. Efforts continue with state authorities to attract more routes supporting tourism and export sectors.
