Avelo Airlines has announced a significant expansion plan for 2024, introducing ten new routes and establishing two new bases. North Carolina is at the forefront of this development, with Avelo's three destinations in the state accounting for seven of the ten new routes.

Wilmington International Airport (ILM) will see three new routes added, while Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), located approximately 25 miles from uptown Charlotte, will have two new routes. Both airports are set to become bases for Avelo. The airline plans to position two Boeing 737s at Concord by April 2025 and three in Wilmington later that year.

In addition to these domestic expansions, Avelo is launching its first international routes from North Carolina outside its Connecticut bases. Flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will commence in February from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), which already serves as a crew base for Avelo. With these additions, Avelo will offer nonstop flights to 27 destinations from North Carolina.

Andrew Levy, Avelo's founder and CEO, emphasized the significance of this growth: "Establishing bases in Charlotte and Wilmington, as well as our international expansion at our RDU base, enables us to bring even more affordable, convenient and industry-leading reliability to more destinations," he stated. "This means even more choice for travelers from across North Carolina while making it even easier for more people to visit the state from elsewhere across the East Coast and abroad."

The expansion extends beyond North Carolina with three additional routes connecting cities already served by Avelo. These include flights from Nashville to Rochester, New York; Wilmington, Delaware; and between Manchester, New Hampshire; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
