Flying during the Christmas season is often a mix of excitement and stress due to increased passenger numbers at airports worldwide. Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has introduced a new mascot, Jett the SEA Otter, to bring joy and alleviate travel stress for passengers.

Jett, a sea otter adorned with aviator goggles and a green scarf, aims to connect otters with aviation. The airport describes Jett as "the newest brand ambassador" who embodies "helpfulness, efficiency, originality, and a natural, welcoming spirit," akin to the warm and playful nature of Pacific Northwest sea otters.

The airport unveiled Jett through a statement and an engaging video featuring mascots from local sports teams and organizations. This introduction marks the end of a multi-year process involving community members and SEA employees in selecting Jett's character and name.

Seattle Tacoma International Airport emphasizes that "Jett joins the SEA brand ahead of the holidays in the hope of spreading joy and easing travel stress." The use of 'SEA' in Jett's name is part of a broader initiative to establish Seattle Tacoma International as globally recognized by its three-letter code.

This branding effort began in 2020. The airport notes that "'S-E-A' is the easiest way for passengers from around the world to identify where they are going." The campaign aligns with regional significance as Seattle prepares to be one of 16 cities hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
