Flights for Air Canada's regional subsidiary, Air Canada Express, are currently operated by two carriers: Jazz Aviation and PAL Airlines. These operators enable passengers to connect seamlessly with Air Canada's mainline flights and participate in the Aeroplan frequent flier program.

Previously, Air Georgian and Sky Regional Airlines provided services under the Air Canada Express brand until 2020 and 2021, respectively. Since 2021, Jazz Aviation has been the primary operator of these regional flights. In 2023, PAL Airlines also began operating under the brand.

Jazz Aviation was established in 2001 and is one of Canada's largest airlines by fleet size. It operates a fleet of 99 aircraft, including Bombardier CRJ900s, De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400s, and Embraer E170s. The airline's Dash 8-Q400s have an economy class-only configuration, while its CRJ900 and E170 aircraft offer both business class and economy seating. An agreement with Air Canada allows Jazz to operate flights according to routes set by Air Canada.

PAL Airlines focuses on services throughout Eastern Canada with a fleet of 22 De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400s. Each aircraft accommodates up to 76 passengers in an all-economy class setup. PAL Airlines joined as an operator for Air Canada Express on July 1st, 2023. At that time, Mark Galardo from Air Canada expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential benefits for regional operations and local communities.

Calvin Ash from PAL Airlines shared similar enthusiasm about working together with Air Canada to enhance travel options across eastern regions of the country. Their agreement is expected to last until at least 2028.

Air Canada Express connects several major Canadian hubs to over 70 destinations across North America. Its longest route using Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft is between Montreal (YUL) and Denver (DEN). Operating bases include Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Calgary International Airport (YYC), Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), and Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW).

Air Canada's mainline fleet consists of various aircraft types totaling 251 planes with an average age of around 18 years old.
