Delta Air Lines has launched a new route connecting Los Angeles and Brisbane, marking the airline's first service to Queensland's capital. This route is part of Delta's expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes destinations such as Auckland, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, Sydney, Tahiti, Taipei, and Tokyo Haneda.

The Los Angeles-Brisbane route spans 6,223 nautical miles and operates three times weekly during the Northern Hemisphere winter. Flights depart from Los Angeles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and return from Brisbane on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The last scheduled departure from Brisbane is on March 28.

In its inaugural year up to July 2024, the route saw approximately 81,000 roundtrip passengers. Delta utilizes its Airbus A350-900 for this service with a seating capacity of 306 passengers. The aircraft configuration includes 32 Delta One suites and a significant portion dedicated to premium classes.

Delta is now one of two carriers offering direct flights between Los Angeles and Brisbane alongside Qantas. Virgin Australia exited this market in 2020 while United Airlines operated briefly between December 2023 and February 2024.

"Delta deploys the 306-seat Airbus A350-900," providing an extensive range of seating options for travelers. The aircraft features include "32 Delta One suites," "48 Premium Select seats," "36 Comfort+," and "190 in bog-standard economy."

This new route is currently Delta's fourth-longest by distance after Atlanta-Johannesburg at 7,333 nautical miles; Atlanta-Cape Town at 7,065 nautical miles; and Los Angeles-Sydney at 6,507 nautical miles.

In addition to launching this long-haul flight to Brisbane, Delta Connection reintroduced Salt Lake City-Grand Junction flights on December 3. This shorter domestic route covers a distance of 188 nautical miles.
