Long Beach Airport has concluded its centennial celebrations by unveiling a new slogan, "america’s coolest airport," and sealing a time capsule in the Historic Terminal. The announcement was made during a ceremony attended by city officials, including Mayor Rex Richardson and Airport Director Cynthia Guidry.

“Long Beach Airport truly is america’s coolest airport,” stated Mayor Richardson. He praised the airport for its ability to serve modern travelers while honoring its rich history. The trademarked slogan reflects the relaxed travel experience that Long Beach Airport aims to provide.

The time capsule, set to be opened in 50 years, contains letters from city leaders, photographs of the airport and city, newspaper articles, and tokens from business partners and airlines. This marks the second time capsule at the location; the first was placed in 1941 and opened in 1966.

To celebrate its centennial year, Long Beach Airport introduced pop-up pickleball courts near the Historic Terminal. These courts are part of a partnership with the City of Long Beach's Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine and will be available throughout the holiday season.

Airport Director Cynthia Guidry emphasized that their new slogan promises travelers a fun experience at LGB. “We might be 100 years old, but I like to say we don’t look it," she said.

The new slogan coincides with significant growth at Long Beach Airport, which recently broke multiple passenger traffic records. Upgrades include a new Ticketing Lobby, Checked Baggage Inspection System facility, consolidated Baggage Claim area, roadway loop improvements, solar canopies, and restoration of the Historic Terminal building.

A study revealed that Long Beach Airport Complex generates $9 billion in economic output and supports nearly 42,000 jobs regionally. It hosts over 800 businesses spanning aviation to technology sectors.
