Avelo Airlines has announced its position as the leader in operational reliability for the first eleven months of 2024. The airline, which operates a fleet of 20 Boeing 737s from six bases to 50 destinations, achieved this milestone while handling record passenger numbers.

During the Thanksgiving travel period, Avelo transported a record-setting 125,000 passengers. On December 1, nearly 15,000 customers flew with Avelo, marking its busiest day since launching in 2021. December is expected to be the airline's busiest month on record with over 150,000 passengers projected between December 20 and January 5.

Avelo's Founder and CEO Andrew Levy stated that during the busy holiday season, "customers can count on it to get them where they want to go on time and with their bags." He emphasized the importance of avoiding long flight delays and cancellations.

Throughout most of 2024, Avelo maintained an impressive punctuality rate with 85.2% of flights arriving within the industry-standard timeframe of fifteen minutes past scheduled arrival times. Delta Air Lines followed at second place with an on-time rate of 82.1%, while United Airlines came third at 78.7%. The industry average stood at just above three-quarters.

In terms of cancellations, Avelo led again with only 0.45% year-to-date cancellations compared to Southwest Airlines' 0.85% and Delta Air Lines' 1.16%. The industry average was reported at approximately double Avelo's rate.

The airline operates from several key bases including Los Angeles Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) and Southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). Since its inception in April 2021, Avelo has flown more than six million customers across over 46,000 flights.

Looking ahead to early next year, Avelo plans to introduce ten new routes including a third international destination—Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic—alongside existing services to Jamaica and Mexico.

"With the addition of these popular new routes and destinations," said Levy, "travelers have more choices on Avelo than ever."
