Carnival Cruise Line has announced an increase in prices for some of its popular onboard services. Passengers will now pay more for drink packages and Wi-Fi, two commonly purchased items during cruises.

The cost of the Cheers beverage package has risen significantly. Precruise purchases have increased from $59.95 to $82.54 per passenger, per day, while onboard purchases have gone up from $64.95 to $88.44 per passenger, per day. This marks a rise of nearly 38% precruise and about 36% onboard.

For a seven-day cruise with two people, this translates to an additional $316.26 if bought precruise and $328.86 if purchased onboard, excluding an 18% service charge added to the package price. Carnival requires all passengers aged 21 and older sharing a room to purchase the Cheers package if one person buys it, with no exceptions allowed.

Wi-Fi packages have also seen price hikes across all tiers. The basic internet package for one device has increased from $12.75 to $18.70 per day when purchased online before sailing, and from $15 to $22 when bought onboard—a roughly 47% increase for both options.

For the fastest internet connection allowing full web access and streaming services, the price is now $23.80 per day precruise (up from $21.25) and $28 per day onboard (up from $25), reflecting a 12% increase.

In response to these changes, Carnival stated: "We're proud of the quality and value a Carnival cruise vacation provides our guests," adding that "recent nominal price adjustments to help cover higher costs and our investments in onboard offerings allow us to continue providing the high-quality experiences our guests know and love."

Unlike some other major cruise lines such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Holland America Line, Carnival does not offer all-inclusive packages that include basic beverage and Wi-Fi services.

This is not the first time Carnival has raised prices; the last increase in Wi-Fi costs occurred in early 2023 by nearly 25%, while drink package prices were last raised in May 2022 by over 15%.
