The University of Mississippi, commonly known as Ole Miss, is a public research university located in Oxford, Mississippi. Established by the Mississippi Legislature in February 1844 and opening its doors in 1848 with an initial enrollment of 80 students, it has grown to become the largest university in the state. Currently, Ole Miss enrolls around 21,000 students, including nearly 15,000 undergraduates and over 3,000 graduate students.

Ole Miss comprises 15 different schools, including the College of Liberal Arts, the School of Law, and the School of Engineering. It is classified as an R1: Doctoral University for its high research activity and participates in several national programs such as the National Sea Grant Program and the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program.

In addition to its academic pursuits, Ole Miss competes at the highest level of college athletics within the NCAA's Division I program. Its teams are known as the Rebels and compete in sports like basketball, baseball, football, and golf within the Southeastern Conference (SEC). To support its extensive activities in academics and athletics, Ole Miss operates a private jet—a Cessna Citation Encore registered as N1UM. This business jet aids in recruiting athletes nationwide and facilitating executive activities for university leaders. According to JetSpy data from 2024, this aircraft completed 293 flights totaling 274 flight hours and consumed over 55,000 gallons of jet fuel.

The most frequented airports by this aircraft include University Oxford Airport (UOX) in Oxford; Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) in Jackson; and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport (GPT) in Gulfport.

The Cessna Citation Encore is part of Cessna's Citation V series developed during the mid-1980s. The first prototype flew in August 1987 with FAA certification following in December 1988. The series saw significant success from its launch through subsequent upgrades such as the Citation Ultra introduced in 1994 and later variants like the Citation Encore announced in late 1998.

Cessna produced approximately 800 aircraft across various models within this series until production ceased in 2011. Users included business executives worldwide alongside military operators such as Colombian Aerospace Force and US Marine Corps.

Design-wise, the Citation Encore features Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535 engines providing about 3,000 pounds of thrust each. Key specifications include a maximum capacity for seven passengers; length at just under 49 feet; wingspan exceeding 52 feet; MTOW reaching over sixteen thousand pounds; typical cruising speed nearing five hundred miles per hour; range extending up to two thousand miles; with service ceilings touching forty-five thousand feet.
