Orlando, Florida, known for its warm climate and theme parks, attracts millions of visitors annually. Among these are travelers from Canada, a market that Air Canada is targeting with increased capacity for the upcoming spring break.

Air Canada plans to deploy its Boeing 777-300ER on select flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Orlando International Airport. The airline will operate this 450-seat aircraft three times weekly from February 28 to March 14, 2024. In total, Air Canada will conduct 15 flights using this widebody aircraft. "This move likely hopes to capitalize on spring break demand—Florida is a popular destination for leisure travelers at that time of year," according to Ishrion Aviation.

The Canadian carrier's capacity expansion comes as weather conditions improve. Data from Cirium indicates that Air Canada will start January 2025 with 50,930 available seats across 266 flights on this route. The Airbus A321 is the most frequently used aircraft during this period.

In February 2025, flight frequencies and available seats will rise further. That month, Air Canada plans to offer 52,032 seats over 281 flights. Besides the Boeing 777-300ER, the airline will also use the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner four times between Toronto and Orlando.

March sees continued deployment of high-capacity widebodies such as the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A330-300 alongside the existing fleet. This adjustment results in a significant increase in service: "a whopping 68,786 seats are offered over 297 flights."

By April 2025, Air Canada's operations on this route will scale back slightly. Although the number of flights remains at around 297, available seats drop to approximately January levels due to a shift towards Airbus narrowbodies like the A319 and A320 series.

Despite these efforts by Air Canada, low-cost carriers dominate Orlando's air travel market due to its leisure-focused demand profile. Southwest Airlines holds a substantial presence at Orlando International Airport alongside Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and JetBlue Airways.
