When arriving at Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD) in Providence late in the evening, travelers might notice two Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the runway. These planes are part of the New England Patriots' fleet and are used to transport players and personnel across the country during the football season.

Interestingly, these jets are also utilized for humanitarian missions and by other sports teams, such as when the Los Angeles Dodgers flew back from New York City after winning the 2024 World Series. The question arises: why do the Patriots use T. F. Green instead of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)?

One reason is that "getting to T. F. Green is actually quite a bit easier than getting to Boston Logan." The Patriots' home stadium, Gillette Stadium, is located in Foxborough, which lies approximately equidistant from both airports. However, traveling from Foxborough to Boston Logan involves navigating through busy traffic areas in Boston.

In contrast, "the Patriots are less likely to get stuck in traffic on their way to T. F. Green than to Logan," making it a more convenient choice logistically for a team operating on tight schedules.

Additionally, "T. F. Green itself is also a far more private jet-friendly airport than Logan." While Boston Logan serves as a major hub with over 1,000 daily flights and six runways, T. F. Green handles only 92 daily flights and has two runways available for use by smaller numbers of private jets like those owned by the Patriots.

Moreover, using T.F. Green offers financial advantages since "the landing fees and takeoff fees at T.F.Green will also be significantly lower" due to reduced demand compared to Boston Logan.

These factors combined make Rhode Island's airport an appealing option for the New England Patriots' travel needs.
