The Piper M-Class, a family of light utility aircraft manufactured by Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, Florida, comprises models designed as six-seat, single-engine planes. The lineup includes both piston engine and turboprop variants, enhancing the aircraft's capabilities.

The PA-46 family received FAA certification in 1983 and has been in production for over four decades. Popular models like the M350, M500, and M600 have sold more than 500 units each. In the coming years, Piper Aircraft plans to introduce the M700 variant to expand its offerings.

"The story of the M-Class's development begins with three PA-46 models," notes Piper Aircraft. These original variants laid the foundation for what would become known as the M-Class. The first model introduced was the Piper PA-36-310P Malibu in 1983, which was among the first single-engine piston-powered aircraft with a pressurized cabin.

In subsequent years, newer models such as the PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage and PA-46-500TP Malibu Meridian were developed. The latter featured a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A engine but had a reduced range of 1,000 nautical miles compared to earlier versions.

"The aircraft manufacturer soon went on to introduce its updated M-Class models," says Piper Aircraft. The updated series includes advanced avionics and safety features that have proven popular among customers. Notably, the M350 is equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics and an emergency descent system.

Looking ahead, "the next generation of M700 aircraft will enter the market in the coming years." Certified in 2024 by aerospace regulatory authorities, this model will feature a 700-horsepower engine and improved landing capabilities for unpaved runways.

Regardless of specific needs or preferences for light private aircraft specifications, "the Piper M-Class will have something on offer for every customer."
