Avelo Airlines is set to expand its operations from Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (HVN) with the introduction of four new routes. The airline will begin flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Detroit (DTW), Jacksonville (JAX), and Portland, Maine (PWM) starting next year.

The new services will operate twice weekly using Boeing 737 aircraft. Avelo's fleet includes eight 737-700s and twelve 737-800s. The routes are scheduled to commence on February 15th, March 7th, April 4th, and May 22nd of 2025 for Jacksonville, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, and Portland respectively.

Currently one of only two carriers at Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport, Avelo faces competition from Breeze Airways on the Jacksonville route. Breeze Airways is also set to start operations at HVN shortly.

Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines stated: “We love Connecticut and are excited to continue expanding our presence here with these five new exclusive destinations. With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more choice, affordability and convenience than any other airline operating in the state. And when you couple that with our industry-leading reliability, it doesn’t surprise us that nearly 3 million Customers have entrusted Avelo with their air travel since we took flight here three years ago."

In addition to its expansion in New Haven, Avelo has announced a new international route from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic. This service will launch on February 21st, 2025. Levy commented further: “We are excited to introduce a third exclusive international nonstop destination for Connecticut travelers. With the addition of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, travelers now have even more choices on Avelo from BDL.”
