A Volaris flight from Bajío International Airport to Tijuana International was disrupted when a passenger attempted to divert the plane to the United States. The incident led to an unscheduled landing in Guadalajara, where authorities arrested the passenger.

The flight, identified as Y4-3041, typically departs early morning using Airbus A320-200s. On this occasion, it left over four hours late at 07:17 local time. Shortly after reaching cruising altitude, a passenger tried to force the aircraft to divert across the US border. Volaris confirmed that "the crew acted in accordance with established security procedures and, as per protocol, the plane was diverted to Guadalajara."

Reports suggest that the 31-year-old male passenger faced death threats and attempted aggressive actions on board. Flightradar24 data indicates that the aircraft landed in Guadalajara just 46 minutes after departing from Bajío. The Mexican National Guard took custody of the man upon arrival.

Volaris has taken legal action against him, emphasizing their commitment to safety: "Volaris has been appointed as the plaintiff to ensure that the defendant faces the full weight of the law... All passengers and crew onboard are safe." After nearly four hours on ground in Guadalajara, the flight resumed its journey at 11:46 and reached Tijuana eight hours and ten minutes behind schedule.

The aircraft involved was an Airbus A320-200 registered N526VL. This model is part of Volaris' fleet since February 2015 and features 179 economy seats.

Volaris expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this situation but reiterated their focus on safety: "The safety of our passengers and crew is the highest priority."
