Federal Express Corporation has inaugurated a new logistics facility in Plzeň, Czech Republic, marking a significant investment in Central and Eastern Europe. The opening of this facility is part of FedEx's ongoing efforts to enhance its logistics capabilities to meet the growing demand for e-commerce and local manufacturing.

The new site covers 2,600 square meters, almost twice the size of its predecessor. It includes a warehouse and office space with advanced features such as a motorized belt sorter with DIM capabilities. This innovation aims to improve operational efficiency. The facility also boasts eco-friendly photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging stations.

FedEx's Plzeň location is integrated into its European Road Network, connecting directly to key logistics centers in Nuremberg, Vienna, and Hanover. It also links to the FedEx Air Network through Prague Airport, facilitating efficient delivery services across Europe and beyond. This network handles over 1.3 million international shipments weekly across 45 countries.

“With its technologies and strategic location, we can offer our customers even better services, supporting their international aspirations and operational needs,” stated Mariusz Mik, Vice President Ground Operations Nordics, Eastern Europe at FedEx. "Our new facility in Plzeň is part of a series of investments in Central and Eastern Europe to support regional economic growth and expand FedEx’s presence there."

This expansion highlights FedEx's commitment to strengthening its presence in the Czech Republic where it currently operates five facilities. In 2022, the company launched its largest facility in Prague covering 10,000 square meters.

Plzeň serves as an industrial hub within the Czech Republic due to its strategic position along major transport routes like the D5 motorway providing access to Prague and Bavaria.
