AirAsia Philippines has announced its plans to transport at least 7.5 million passengers in 2025, reflecting confidence in the ongoing recovery and growth of air travel demand. The airline is projected to carry 7.2 million passengers by the end of this year, marking an increase from the 6.6 million recorded in 2023.

The company attributes this growth to a significant expansion of its Airbus A320 fleet, which saw seven new aircraft added in 2024, bringing the total number of active narrowbody planes to 16. This increased capacity has enabled AirAsia Philippines to enhance its service offerings to popular destinations such as Caticlan (Boracay), Cebu, and Tagbilaran (Panglao), as well as international routes including Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Seoul Incheon, and Bangkok.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A—the parent company of AirAsia—expressed optimism about the airline's role in boosting Philippine tourism: "Our goal is to bring more tourists into the Philippines in 2025 and continue to strengthen our domestic operations. We plan to add more aircraft, launch new routes, and possibly surprise destinations in the coming year."

The company's strategic partnership with Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) has been instrumental in swiftly returning grounded aircraft back into service following pandemic-related disruptions. According to data from Planespotters.net, AirAsia Philippines operates a fleet of 25 Airbus A320-200s; currently, 16 are active while nine remain parked or under maintenance.

Ricky Isla, CEO of AirAsia Philippines, highlighted that despite challenges faced during the past year: "Through it all we have remained committed. We take pride in our achievements which highlight the airline's steady recovery. Looking beyond 2025 we are committed to sustainable growth and stability ensuring we consistently deliver excellence and reliability to our guests."

AirAsia continues its mission as a leading low-cost carrier across five ASEAN countries with aspirations for global network expansion while pursuing sustainability goals such as net-zero emissions by 2050.
