Japan Airlines has introduced a same-day baggage delivery service for international travelers arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport. This new service, available from Terminal 3, allows passengers to have their luggage delivered directly to their hotel on the day of arrival.

The "JAL Same-day Delivery Service" is accessible to all foreign tourists arriving at Terminal 3. Japan Airlines clarified that the service is not limited to foreign nationals; Japanese residents can also use it without needing an airline ticket or passport. It is open to all passengers, regardless of whether they flew with JAL.

The primary aim of this service is to allow travelers to explore Tokyo without the inconvenience of carrying heavy baggage, especially when transferring from the airport to their hotel. As stated by Japan Airlines, "The service aims to provide a seamless and stress-free travel experience by ensuring that tourists can enjoy their time in Tokyo without the burden of carrying heavy luggage."

This initiative also addresses what Japan Airlines describes as a "social issue" related to Tokyo's overcrowded public transportation systems and a lack of luggage storage lockers. The city's transport network often faces strain, which can be exacerbated by travelers with large bags.

The cost for using JAL's delivery service is 4,500 yen (approximately $29.50) per item, provided the baggage measures up to 160 cm in total dimensions and weighs no more than 20 kg. This price point is competitive compared to third-party baggage delivery services.

To utilize this service, customers must visit the JAL ABC Counter on the second floor of Haneda's Terminal 3 arrival lobby. Reservations and payments are made using a 2D barcode displayed on a poster at the counter. After receiving a baggage sticker from an issuing machine, customers attach it to their bag before handing it over at the counter where customer service agents assist with processing.

Operating hours for check-ins are from 04:00 to 18:00 daily. Baggage checked in before 16:00 will be delivered by 20:00, while those checked in until 18:00 will arrive by 22:00.

Currently, deliveries are limited to hotels in fourteen districts within Tokyo including Shinjuku and Shinagawa among others. Japan Airlines plans on expanding this delivery area further.

However, certain items such as golf bags or bicycles are not accepted for delivery even if they meet size and weight requirements. Additionally, deliveries are restricted solely to hotels; private residences or other locations are excluded from this service.
