Air Canada has announced that it will offer free WiFi to its customers across all aircraft starting in 2025. The service will initially be available on short-haul routes and to members of its loyalty program, Aeroplan.
Mark Nasr, Air Canada's executive vice president of Marketing and Digital, stated that "reliable access to streaming-quality WiFi is becoming essential for both business and leisure travellers." The airline plans to have complimentary internet on 85% of its fleet from the beginning.
Initially, aircraft operating within North America and Sun markets will have free WiFi, with long-haul flights expected to follow in 2026. Air Canada aims to be the first airline offering free WiFi on flights from Toronto-Billy Bishop airport. The certification and installation of WiFi hardware on Q400 aircraft are set for completion by the end of 2025.
