In recent developments, Jetstar, Australia's prominent low-fare airline, has initiated three new international routes over two days. The services launched from Brisbane, Sydney, and Sunshine Coast airports to destinations in New Zealand, Vanuatu, and Thailand.

Under CEO Stephanie Tully's leadership, Jetstar has improved its performance after a period of challenges involving flight cancellations and refund delays. The introduction of more Airbus A321LRs has enabled the airline to expand its route network significantly.

On December 12th, Jetstar's first-ever flight from Sydney to Vanuatu took off. Flight JQ123 departed Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at 10:41 AM and landed at Port Vila Bauerfield International Airport after a journey lasting just over three hours. The service is set to operate up to four times weekly during peak periods.

Jenn Armor, Jetstar's Executive Manager for Customer Service, emphasized the appeal of Vanuatu as a destination. "Getting to this Pacific island paradise is now easier and more affordable than ever," she stated.

The second new route commenced on December 13th with a flight from Auckland Airport to Queensland's Sunshine Coast. This service will run up to three times weekly and aims to boost tourism between the two regions.

The third route involves a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flying from Brisbane Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. This nonstop service is scheduled three times weekly and reduces travel time significantly compared to indirect routes.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, CEO of Brisbane Airport, highlighted the demand for flights to Bangkok: "Bangkok has been one of the most frequently requested services over the past three years."

Jetstar continues its expansion with plans for additional routes in the coming months as it recovers from supply chain disruptions that previously impacted operations.
