Poland's national airline, LOT Polish Airlines, will initiate flights to Iceland starting in April 2025. This move marks the airline as the fourth Star Alliance member to operate flights to the North Atlantic destination next year. The introduction of this route is part of LOT's broader expansion strategy, which has recently included new connections to Malta and Cyprus.

The service from Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) to Keflavik International Airport (KEF), near Reykjavik, will commence on April 12th, 2025. Flights are scheduled four times a week using Boeing 737 aircraft. Tickets for these flights are currently available for purchase.

The outbound journey from Poland will occur in the evenings with return flights departing shortly after midnight and arriving back in Warsaw by morning. Robert Ludera, Director of Network Planning and Alliances at LOT Polish Airlines, commented on the new route: "Iceland is a truly unique destination that will undoubtedly enhance the LOT Polish Airlines network." He added that it offers significant convenience for Iceland's Polish community.

During winter months, the frequency of these flights will decrease to three per week due to reduced demand, eliminating Saturday services but maintaining Sunday connections.

LOT's announcement about its Iceland route follows recent news about other destinations such as Malta and Cyprus. The Malta service will also begin next April using Boeing 737s configured in two classes. Amit Ray, Director India, DACH Markets and Italy at LOT Polish Airlines, noted: “Iceland is an up-and-coming destination with a good tourist infrastructure where visitors experience something truly unique."

In addition to these routes, LOT has launched several other destinations this year including Innsbruck last month and resumed services to Lyon in September among others. Daily flights between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Thessaloniki are set to start on June 17th, 2025.

These expansions align with LOT's plan announced last year aiming for nearly 20 new scheduled destinations by the end of 2028.
