United Airlines, one of the world's major carriers, has announced its decision to cease operations at Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport. The airline will end its service between Denver International Airport and Lewiston, Idaho, on February 1, 2025. The final flight from Denver is scheduled to arrive on January 31, 2025.

Currently, United operates daily flights on this route using Embraer E175 aircraft through SkyWest. This service provides a total of 62 flights and 4,340 seats in December. However, airport officials have noted that the route has not been profitable for United without subsidies. Despite efforts to secure funding for the required $4.9 million subsidy, only $500,000 was available.

Michael Isaacs, the Airport Director at Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport expressed gratitude towards United Airlines and local authorities for their attempts to maintain the route during challenging economic times in air transportation. "We thank United Airlines, Nez Perce County and the city of Lewiston for trying this route during challenging economic times in the air transportation industry,” Isaacs stated.

While direct service to Denver will end, Delta Air Lines continues to provide commercial services from Lewiston with direct flights to Salt Lake City and Seattle.

The Embraer E175 plays a significant role in United's regional network with two configurations seating either 70 or 76 passengers across three classes: United First, Economy Plus, and Economy.

Despite this change in operations at Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport, United Airlines remains committed to expanding its fleet with more aircraft deliveries planned as it aims to become the largest airline globally.
