Last week, Malaysia Airlines announced the reinstatement of its codeshare partnership with Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier of Uzbekistan. This collaboration aims to provide seamless connections between Malaysia and Uzbekistan, expanding travel opportunities for passengers across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and beyond.

Uzbekistan Airways operates a fleet exceeding 45 aircraft, including Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and Airbus A320neos. Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines has a fleet of around 92 aircraft featuring Airbus A330s and Boeing 737s. The renewed agreement will see Malaysia Airlines introducing its MH flight code on the Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur route operated by Uzbekistan Airways. This marks Malaysia Airlines' entry into Central Asia. Passengers can now connect directly to Central Asia under this codeshare agreement.

Malaysia Airlines also expanded into South Asia by launching a new route between Kuala Lumpur and Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport earlier this month. In partnership with IndiGo, this addition connects Malaysia to 16 destinations across India.

On Friday, flight MH184 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 22:11 and landed in Kolkata after a three-hour journey using a Boeing 737 MAX 8. The inaugural flight saw high demand with passenger load factors of over 90% in both directions.

Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of Airlines at Malaysia Aviation Group said: "This route reinforces our commitment to offering luxurious and culturally immersive travel experiences."

Additionally, Malaysia Airlines is enhancing its inflight catering service by partnering with the Oberoi Group for flights departing from major Indian cities like Kolkata and New Delhi.
