Turkish Airlines is set to join the list of airlines operating from the new Terminal One at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport when it opens in 2026. The airline, which currently operates from JFK's Terminal 1, will continue its operations in the newly constructed terminal as part of a transition aligned with the airport's development plans.

Jennifer Aument, Chief Executive Officer of New Terminal One, expressed enthusiasm about Turkish Airlines' move: "We are thrilled to welcome Turkish Airlines to the New Terminal One at JFK, where their commitment to world-class customer service aligns perfectly with our mission to provide an unparalleled customer experience."

Turkish Airlines plans to enhance its presence by opening an 11,000-square-foot lounge that will offer direct access to boarding gates. This facility will be twice the size of its current lounge.

The existing Terminal 1 has been significant for international flights in and out of New York for many years. It hosts several airlines including Air France, EVA Air, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc, Saudia, SWISS, and TAP Air Portugal.

The new Terminal One project is part of a $19 billion modernization effort by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey aimed at transforming JFK Airport into a world-class gateway. The redevelopment includes building on sites occupied by Terminals 1, 2, and 3 with new arrivals and departure halls along with fourteen gates expected in the first phase by 2026.

This initiative seeks to improve passenger experiences through open spaces and various amenities while also reworking road networks for better ground transportation access.

Community engagement forms a crucial aspect of this redevelopment plan. According to A New JFK: "The JFK Redevelopment Program (JFKR) has assembled a Community Outreach Team that serves as a touchpoint for the community to be actively engaged in the redevelopment program as well as obtain project information and explore job and business opportunities."

In summary, Turkish Airlines' integration into JFK's new terminal marks another step towards enhancing services at this major international airport hub.
