Indianapolis International Airport (IND) has confirmed a record-breaking year, surpassing 10 million passengers in 2024. This milestone comes as the airport recovers from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had previously hindered its growth trajectory. In 2019, the airport handled over 9.5 million travelers, but numbers fell to just over four million in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Since then, IND has steadily increased its passenger numbers, reaching 7.2 million in 2021, 8.7 million in 2022, and 9.8 million in 2023. This year marks the first time the airport has exceeded ten million passengers within a calendar year.
Marsha Wurster, Senior Director of Commercial Enterprise at IND, noted: "On top of seasonal travel peaks, IND has welcomed a resurgence of leisure and business travel since the pandemic and benefited from intentional efforts connecting the needs of our community, corporate and airline partners with demonstrated demand and strength of our local economy."
