Los Angeles International Airport was ranked as the eighth-busiest airport globally in 2023 with over 75 million passengers. It serves as a hub for major airlines including Delta Air Lines (19.7% market share), American Airlines (15%), United Airlines (14.8%), Southwest Airlines (9.5%), and Alaska Airlines (6.5%).

Planespotters can expect to see flights from numerous international destinations such as London Heathrow (1.6 million passengers), Guadalajara (1 million passengers), Taipei (1 million passengers), Seoul (1 million passengers), and Tokyo Haneda (975 thousand passengers).

The annual SpotLAX/Cranky Dorkfest event attracts many planespotters to LAX each year. Other notable planespotting locations at LAX include Imperial Hill and Vista Del Mar Park.

As Los Angeles prepares to host the Olympic Games in 2028, increased charter flights are expected to provide additional opportunities for planespotting enthusiasts.
