The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drone, including its SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian variants, continues to gain popularity among countries seeking advanced military technology. Despite its vulnerabilities, the Reaper remains a sought-after tool for long-range patrol missions in uncontested airspace.

Poland recently joined the list of nations acquiring MQ-9 Reapers. In December 2024, Poland finalized a $310 million deal with General Atomics for three Reapers, two Certifiable Ground Control Stations (CGCS), and three years of GA-ASI’s SkyGuardian Global Support Solutions. The Polish procurement agency noted that these drones would enhance their reconnaissance capabilities and enable targeting ground and naval objectives.

The United States Air Force is the largest operator of the MQ-9 Reaper, with around 100 units. Other operators include France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom. India is acquiring 31 MQ-9B Sky/Sea Guardian drones for its Army, Navy, and Air Force as it seeks to bolster defenses against China.

General Atomics highlights the drone's "unmatched situational awareness" and versatility across different missions. Variants like the SeaGuardian are optimized for maritime patrols while offering endurance capabilities ranging from 30 to over 40 hours.
