Delta Air Lines will introduce a nonstop service between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport starting March 9, 2025. This development follows approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation and represents a significant step in providing more competitive travel options between Seattle and Washington D.C.

The new route is one of five beyond-perimeter flights approved by the DOT, enabled by Delta's advocacy efforts linked to the FAA reauthorization bill signed into law earlier this year. This addition means Delta will now offer nonstop flights to all three of its western hubs from the nation's capital.

"Seattle is a key market for our customers, a crucial hub for Delta, and a premier west coast gateway," stated Glen Hauenstein, president of Delta Air Lines. "Delta commends the Department of Transportation for recognizing that additional service from DCA to Seattle will give consumers the much-needed competition and choice they deserve."

Local community and business leaders have supported this initiative, highlighting its economic benefits and advantages for customers. The route will be serviced by Delta’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, known for operational efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.

Delta provides free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles Members on board, along with an array of in-flight entertainment through Delta Studio.

In addition to this new route, Delta has been enhancing its presence at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport as a major gateway to Asia with routes including Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, and Taipei. Starting spring 2025, these routes will transition to Airbus A350 aircraft offering increased seating capacity.

Furthermore, summer 2025 will see Seattle become home to a new Delta One Lounge and an expanded Sky Club at Concourse A.

"As Delta celebrates more than 90 years of operation in Seattle...we are committed to connecting the world with the Evergreen State," said Joan Wang, managing director – Pacific Northwest for Delta Air Lines.

Celebrating its long history in Seattle since Northwest Airways began operations there in 1933 (later becoming Northwest Airlines), Delta currently employs around 3,000 people locally with nearly 170 daily departures from SEA to over 50 destinations worldwide.

Delta has been recognized as America’s most-awarded airline including receiving Global Viewpoint’s Airline of Choice in Seattle Award for 2023.
