Since its first flight in May 2015, the Gulfstream G500 has become a notable presence in the private jet industry. Known for its distinctive profile, the G500 offers customizable cabin configurations that enhance comfort and luxury for owners and passengers alike.

The G500's cabin design focuses on comfort and versatility, with configurations accommodating up to 19 seated passengers or eight sleeping units. The interior can be tailored to an owner's preferences, featuring leather seating and hardwood detailing. A key feature is the low cabin altitude which helps reduce passenger fatigue during long flights. Passengers have access to systems controlling lighting, temperature, entertainment, and communications.

Pilots also benefit from advanced cockpit features including a glass cockpit with modern avionics. The Symmetry Flight Deck provides 10 touchscreen displays for intuitive operation. Features like Synthetic Vision and Enhanced Vision systems aid pilot performance in challenging conditions.

Powering the G500 are two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA engines known for their efficiency and sustainability. These engines support a cruising speed of Mach 0.90 and a range of 5,200 nautical miles while adhering to ICAO’s Stage 5 noise and emissions standards.

Ownership costs of a G500 are substantial due to factors such as fuel costs, maintenance, crew salaries, insurance, hangar fees, and other operational expenses. Despite these costs limiting potential buyers, demand remains strong across various regions including the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The aircraft's ability to operate at smaller airports adds appeal for both private owners and corporate operators seeking flexibility in their fleets.

In November 2024, Gulfstream marked a milestone with the delivery of its 300th unit from the G500/G600 program. This achievement highlights General Dynamics' investment in these models which continue to make significant impacts within the aviation market.
